Darkness

Deep within me is a darkness
Darkness that surrounds my soul
That takes away my peace
And gives me a pain
I suffer through this pain
Which tortures me and gives me unrest

I try to cry aloud
And try to bring back the moments
When I am happy and proud
But the darkness engulfs me
And kills my voice, so loud
It takes me far away
And I do not know how to come out

I feel all alone
In a world where no one is known
I want to hold the hand
Of someone whom I love
But there is darkness
And I can’t see
So somebody come and please make me free!

Is Technology Dependent on Man or Is It Vice Versa?

“Is the net working?”, one of my colleagues asked and I before I could reply, pat came the reply, “No”. And with this announcement all work stopped all of a sudden. While some of us rejoiced at this unintended break from work, others who were doing something more important banged their fists on the workstations and mumbled something to give vent to their anger. Soon the entire office, which usually resounds with the noise of key presses, was abuzz with murmur as people started gossiping with their friends and other colleagues. And there was no objection from the bosses as the work requires the employees to have access to the internet 24*7.

And, it was during one such phase in my routine day at the office, when I realized that how far mankind has reached. Today we can do things which could not have been imagined by our grandfathers. Science has gifted us with the technology to reach our loved ones within minutes which was a dream till about a century ago. The developments in the field of IT are squeezing out distances rapidly. We are advancing in space technology and medicinal and engineering fields. Nanotechnology is changing the concept of the way we look at things. And the journey has just begun. We still have many more milestones to cover and many new heights to achieve.

But are we only gaining from this rapid development in science and technology. Are we as humans, not losing our basic humanity in this unending race. Today the world is divided into two major parts, an ultra modern and rich part and a shabby and extremely poor part. Somehow the technology is being used for the further development of the former class but what about the other half of the world? People, who do not get a square meal a day, don’t really care what they can do with internet. A mother who has lost her child to a disease like TB cannot understand the benefit of nanotechnology. Is the death of a six year old child, worth the millions of dollars we pump into the development of new weapons for warfare? No, absolutely not!

But what are we doing about it? I say we are doing nothing. We are just waiting with open blinded eyes as the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. Now if you are wondering what you can do about it, there is a lot! But for that we have to take some initiative. We have to take the initiative of helping people and organizations that are working for the good of other people. Maybe it will not be enough, but doing something is definitely better than doing nothing at all!

Dear Parents

When there was no one
You were by my side
You held my hand
And taught me the lessons of life
You taught me to love all
You taught me to share pain
You taught me that after a rainfall
There surely will be sunlight again

You taught me to give respect
You taught me to never blame
You taught me to be truthful
You taught me to show mercy
You taught me to be good to all
And you taught me to stand up after I fall

You became a friend
You became my guide
You gave me everything
You gave me my life
You showed me light
Whenever there was dark
You were there for me
Whenever I used to call

My dear parents
You are my lifeline
I have always been indebted to you
From the time I can recall
I wish and pray to God
To give such wonderful Mom Dad
To one and All!!!

What Is Love

The other day, I saw a couple going on the road holding hands, oblivious of the world around them. They just seemed to be so engrossed in one another that they hardly cared where they were or how many eyes were watching them. And then a thought just crossed my mind. Is this what love is all. Is this what poets and novelists have written so much about? Is this what turns people’s lives into a heavenly bliss. And then I answered my own questions. Yes this was what has inspired beautiful poetry, and romantic tales. This is what makes the world go.

If you have never experienced being in love, you might wonder what binds people who fall in love. It is not just an emotion that surges up their hormones. It is the feeling of becoming complete in somebody’s company. It is the freedom of being your real self and being accepted and appreciated for that.It is the fun of experiencing some part of every relationship in this one strong bond. It is the tutor who teaches you tolerance, patience and forgiveness. It is the friend who remains with you every time and everywhere, bringing brightness into even the darkest corners of your heart.

So open your hearts and let the fragrance of love blossom your crushed emotions. Give yourself the best gift that you can get. Free yourself from inhibitions and see the world changing in front of you. Don’t shy away from the most wonderful feeling of all, that God has bestowed us with. Love does not hurt, it never causes pain but the condition is that you have to be selfless. Only if you become selfish, will you experience the traumatic side of love. So give yourself just one chance to get out from your frog well and welcome a new dawn with open arms and open minds!

Who Am I?

Facing my reflection, in the mirror,
I often think and ask myself,
Who am I?

Am I just a daughter, a wife, a mother?
Am I just what my duties make me?
Am I here to make a sacrifice every time?
Where do I stand as a person?
Who cares for my emotions?
Who Am I?

Then some little voice within me answers
A voice that has been mellowed down
A voice I am barely able to hear
It answers not only my musing
It also answers all my fears.

You are all these and more, it says
You are the one who makes them.
Your strength and courage moulds them
Your sacrifice nurtures them
You give them happiness and peace
So don’t worry, just be at ease.

You are a woman who loves and cares
And that my dear is all you should care
For God has found you to be very special
So that is why you are here!!!

The Ideal Gift

Valentine Day is here and I am sure most of you must have decided what you want to gift your special person with! But I think there must be a lazy few like me, who are pondering over some novel gift ideas. But don’t worry friends, as last minute shoppers tend to get good deals and we still have some time to plan!!!

Well jokes apart, what would be the ideal gift for that one person who makes all the difference in your life. Generally on this occasion, people gift their lovers with a cuddly-wuddly teddy or some other soft toy, or they choose to present a bouquet of red roses to the person who matters most in their lives. But do you really feel that a sweet soft toy or a bunch of roses is all that your lover is really worth of! I mean come on; it is a day when you celebrate being together and sharing that special bond. So why gift your priceless partner with something that will loose its value after some time!

If you are wondering how else you can make this romantic day memorable, let me give you some tips. You can go on to do something that your lover has wanted you to do for a long time like maybe stop smoking, or quitting some other ugly habit or even dressing in some particular manner. You can also spend a quiet evening alone with him/her without going to some overcrowded restaurant, pub, disco or theatre. Instead you can go to some place where the two of you can talk about everything and anything. Or else you can just take a stroll holding each other’s hands, sharing the sweet memories of being together. Another thing you can do is that you can have a surprise treat for your special partner, where you will cook his/her favorite dishes, but try this only if you have some culinary talents!

These are just a few ways of making your Valentine Day special and unforgettable for the love of your life. And if any of these does not suit you, don’t worry, just let your imagination fly and you are sure to come up with some novel idea that will brighten up your love life. In short just indulge into something that really pleases your lover and I am sure you will become more intimate with the person you love as he/she will understand how deeply you care for him/her. Don’t just follow the league, follow the wishes of your lovers heart and you are sure to make this V-Day unique and priceless for him/her.

So go ahead and woo your love with something he/she never expected as I also will do something to get even closer to my dear one!!!

Together We Grow!!!

Together we grow,
Individually we fall,
The progress of one
Is the progress of all
So lets lend a hand
To someone in need
And just feel happy
About a little good deed
And remember my dear
You will be repaid
For when you are in need
Someone will come to your aid!!!

You And I

The footprints of your love
Are still etched in my heart
Try as I may, that out you go
You are always there with me in my thought
Every breath I take every drop I drink
Reminds me that we share something

I may be asleep, I might be awake
No matter what I do, no matter where I stay
You follow me every time and to everyplace
You are in the sunset and you are there at dawn
You are in the in my every smile and every frown

Though years have gone since you and I met
It seems like yesterday when the scene was set
The scene of our separation, the scene of my hurt
The scene that killed the love in our hearts
The scene that forced you and me apart

You moved on in life and left me alone
But I still an not sure whether you have really gone
How can I be sure when I see you everywhere
You are not in front of me, but still you are near
And though you gave me an unhealing scar
One thing I know that you can never go far!

The Philosophy of Life!

Sometimes, when I m not in the best of my moods, I sit with a cup of coffee in my hands, just staring into the nothingness and thinking - what if some things in life had happened differently? Maybe life would have been better or knows, it could even have been worse. But then you always feel curious about things that are unknown to you.

I am sure that many of you must have pondered over this question at least once in your life. But, have you and I ever wondered- What about the present? Have we ever noticed how beautiful life is even now, in its present state! I know most of you will disagree with me and say what is beautiful about the king of life I am living? But my friend I assure you that if you look around yourself, you will find many things that can brighten up your life.

Actually we are so busy, complaining about the things that dissatisfy us, leaving us with little or no time to appreciate the small things in our lives that can make us happy. Every new day brings along new opportunities but we tend to shut our eyes or turn our backs because we are more than often busy thinking about the lost opportunities in the past. We torment our brains, thinking about an unknown alternate life and thus ignore the gifts that God has given to us to make this life wonderful.

So my friends, break the shackles of past and let your spirit be free from all the misgivings, hindrances and prejudices. Just take some time out from your cribbing and cravings and you will be surprised to find how much more there is to life than meets the eye. Why worry about something that was not bound to happen. Try to find happiness in the smile of a child, in the laughter of lovers and in the blessings of elders and you will definitely feel that this is the best life you could have ever lived!
